South Cumberland is one of the newer Tennessee State Parks. Almost all of the park lies atop the Cumberland Plateau and, unlike most state parks, South Cumberland is made up of 10 different areas located in 4 different counties. The Visitor Center is located between Monteagle and Tracy City on Highway 41 off I-24. From here the various components of the park are managed. Visitors can also obtain information and directions from the visitor center. Hiking may be the most appealing aspect of South Cumberland State Park. The park includes some of the most noted hiking trails in the country. Remember to protect the trail features and the rights of other visitors. Take pride in knowing that no one could tell you have used the trail after your visit. If you see something on the trail that needs repair, please inform the Visitor Center or a Ranger. Firearms, fireworks, axes, hatchets, alcoholic beverages and drugs are not allowed on the park area or trails. Dogs and other pets must be kept on a leash at all times. Trailheads / trails include: Buggytop Trail – Carter State Natural Area
Collins Gulf Trail – Savage Gulf Trailhead
Fiery Gizzard Trail – Grundy Trailhead
Greeter Falls Trails – Stone Door Trailhead: Laurel Trail
Big Creek Rim Trail
Hobbs Cabin Trails – Savage Gulf Trailhead: Savage Gulf Day Loop
